Wendy Randle
Director of Education

Wendy Randle attended Salve Regina University where she completed a triple major in Administration of Justice, Political Science and Spanish.  Shortly thereafter, she worked as a correctional officer at the Federal Correctional Institution in Danbury, CT.  Upon returning to RI, Wendy attended Roger Williams University where she completed her degree in Elementary Education.  After graduating in December of 1999 from RWU, Wendy taught fourth grade at Cranston Calvert School in Newport, RI and was then hired as a first grade teacher at Coggeshall School in Newport, RI. While teaching 1st grade for five years, Wendy completed her Masters Degree in School Administration at Providence College.  After graduating with her Masters in May of 2005, Wendy was hired to serve as the Principal of South Elementary in Somerset, MA. 


After marrying her husband Derrick Randle who is in the U. S. Navy, Wendy and her husband moved to Beaufort, SC where she served as a principal of Riverview Charter School and Bolden Elementary/Middle School.  She missed her family and ended up returning to RI where she served as the Principal and Head of School at Paul Cuffee School.  After three years of employment at Paul Cuffee School, Wendy found her dream job at SouthSide Elementary Charter School. Wendy loves the children, families and staff of SouthSide Elementary.  When she is not at SouthSide, she enjoys spending time with her family and her two dogs, Ella and Bella.  Wendy loves to swim, paddle board, rollerblade and spend time outdoors in nature.  

Adrienne Pontbriand
Executive Assistant

Adrienne Pontbriand has been in the field of education for fifteenen years. Working for several different schools and programs such as The Whitney Academy, Paul Cuffee Upper and Lower School, and Western Hills Middle School. Before getting into the field of education studied Culinary Arts at Johnson and Whales exiting with a degree. She is currently working towards her degree in Early Education with a minor in Special Education. Adrienne enjoys spending time with her family. She has three children. Her eldest daughter attends LaSalle Academy to which is extremely proud of. Her favorite subjects are Science and Math. Adrienne enjoys cooking, playing soccer, and listening to music. Adrienne loves the outdoors and coffee. 

Lourdes DeJesus

This is my 7th year at Southside.  I graduated from Rhode Island College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. I am excited to take over my new role as Business Manager and Food Service Director. During my free time, I enjoy exercising, traveling, and spending time with my family.   

Tamara Diaz, LICSW

Social Worker

I am a visual artist and licensed independent clinical social worker who lives and works in the SouthSide of Providence. I was born in NYC but grew up in Barcelona, Spain. I have been working as a social worker for more than 20 years and began my career working in a shelter for teenage girls as well as other programs in Providence and Philadelphia. I opened my own private practice in 2010 and see children/families ages 3-18 for a variety of reasons including trauma, depression, anxiety or emotional/behavioral issues. I am passionate about art, music, traveling, helping others and my friends/family. I am happy to have worked at SouthSide since 2016. 

Susan Cancellieri
Math Interventionist and Director of Special Education


Susan Cancellieri received her undergraduate degree in Elementary Education and Psychology at the University of Rhode Island. She went on to receive her Masters degree in Special Education at Providence College. Most recently she completed a post Masters program in Special Education Administration at Bridgewater State University. Ms. Cancellieri has been teaching for 17 years at various school districts across RI and MA as a classroom teacher, special education teacher, and academic interventionist. She also assumed the role of Director of Special Education here at SouthSide. This is her fifth year at SouthSide. 

Susan was born and raised in Cranston. She currently lives in Attleboro with her wife, three children, and her Puggle, Margo. She enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, reading, writing, and home decorating.

Hello! My name is Claudia Ramos. I am so excited to be joining the SouthSide Team. I was born in Foster City, California. When my father remarried I relocated to Puerto Rico for a year. In August of 1999 I then moved to Orlando, Florida. In 2015, I moved again but to Miami where I meet my husband. I worked at a Charter school as a paraprofessional and then taught Kindergarten for three years when I graduated from FIU with my Bachelor's in Arts. I am the oldest of four children but the only child from both of her biological parents. I love traveling, hiking, and going to the beach. I also love being at home with my husband and cat, and going to the movies.

Hello! My name is Christopher Love, this will be my first year working at Southside
as a teaching partner for the 1st grade. I am a long time Providence native and have
been working in child care for the past 17 years. My previous stops include Sackett
Street Recreation Center, Cranston YMCA, Paul Cuffee School, and Times2 Stem
Academy. I am currently a member of the Rhode Island Coaches Association and
coach many different sports which includes basketball, volleyball, soccer, track and field and football. When I’m not in the classroom with our wonderful students, my free time consists of fishing, gardening, hiking through the woods and spending quality time with
my family.

Rachel Maddox

Rachel Maddox is a non-binary playwright and critical educator with a K-6 teaching credential. A New Jersey native, they spent their formative years in Quaker school before transferring to and ultimately graduating from Princeton Day School in 2012. They moved on to Connecticut College from which they graduated in 2016 with a BA in Theater (Playwriting Concentration) and an Elementary Education Teaching Certificate. Since graduating, Rachel has acquired a wide variety of skills at the intersection of their study of theater and education. They worked in stage management and design on a professional musical production in San Francisco while also working as a Special Education Instructional Support Specialist in the Oakland Unified School District. Upon returning to the East Coast, Rachel worked as a long-term substitute teacher for a 4th/5th grade classroom, and as a teaching artist for Boston-based theater programs throughout the summer. Most recently, Rachel has been working as an artist and technology manager for the Rhode Island Black Storytellers and a freelance teaching artist, while pursuing and developing playwriting.

Hello! I will be joining the team as a learning partner. I have been working in child care for 6 years. I was born in Providence but my cultural roots are from Guatemala and Cambodia. I am the oldest of 3, and I have always taken great care of my family and worked hard to fulfill their needs. Hello, my name is Magdalie Prevost, but all the students call me Ms.Dolly. I graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a bachelor's degree in Human Development and Family Studies. I have been working with children over the past 15 years as a mentor through the College Crusade and as a teacher through the YMCA. I have been working as a learning partner at Southside Elementary for three and a half years. I'm currently in the third-grade classroom. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family especially my three children.

Hello! My name is Yulisa Tavares and I will be a new learning partner this year. I was born in the
Dominican Republic and migrated to the U.S. when I was 5 years of age. I completed training to
be a teaching assistant in 2014. This is my first year working with Southside Elementary and I
am very excited to be part of this wonderful school. I am happily married with three beautiful
children. I love helping others. In my free time I enjoy playing sports and spending time with my
family. In the summertime we usually travel to the Dominican Republic to enjoy sun, the culture

My name is Mr. Dunbar. I am a South Side native and a first generation Liberian-American. I have been living and working in New Jersey for the last 21 years. I have more than 15 years of urban teaching experience.  I come with a Bachelors in English, Masters in Secondary Education and Educational Leadership. My teaching and leadership background has been primarily focused on elementary and junior high school (English Literacy, Social Studies and Science) with experience as a mentorship program coordinator. I started at the Southside Elementary School as a replacement for Mrs. Amato. Working with the second grade was an amazing experience and I look forward to building a solid relationship with all individuals in the South Side community. Thank you!

My name is Danna Gomez. I am so excited to start my second year at the South Side Elementary School. As a Providence native, I enjoy working to uplift our youth in my community. I worked with young children for seven years at my church. I graduated from the Trinity Academy for the Performing Arts. I am now attending my second year at CCRI to become a teacher assistant. I enjoy music and majored in it throughout high school which was an amazing experience. I’ve been playing Violin for almost 5 years. I am a vibrant musician, dog lover, gardener, techie, Mom, wife, and educator.

Born in Queens NY, raised in Long Island NY, RI has been my home for a number of years. I attended Shenandoah Conservatory of Music of Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginia and received the Bachelor of Music Therapy degree. This is my fifth year at SouthSide. I started as a part-time music teacher. Due to also teaching full time at Community Preparatory School and the shortening of the SouthSide school day to 3 pm, I now teach MUSIC & More in the extended day program. I am passionate about fostering the growth of positive individuals in our world through education and experiences. Each school year I look forward to having the opportunity to work with dedicated administrators, staff, and students that stretch my creativity as an educator.

I’ve been the art teacher at Southside for two and a half years. Also, this is my first year teaching after-school art club. I’m a visual artist who has been exhibiting her work since 2001. I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth and a Masters in Art Education from Rhode Island College. Other fun facts: I practice yoga every day; I love animals (I have a cat named Lexi), and love spending time with friends and family.

My name is Hannah Resseger.  The students call me Miss Hannah or B-Mor (my Hip Hop name).  This is my 3rd year at Southside but I’ve been volunteering and working with youth for 25 years.  I teach PE/Health and Music and I’m also a Learning Partner in 5th grade.  Music and art are my passion.  When I’m not at work or making music I like to go bike riding or hiking with my dogs.  I also love Chinese and Korean Historical Drama.

This is my first year of teaching. I attended Rhode Island College and graduated this year. I graduated with a degree in Elementary Education and Psychology. On the weekends, I love spending time with my family and friends. During my free time, I enjoy baking, being outdoors, and going to the beach.
